...On The Implementation Of The Crest Taskforce Report On The Development Of Services For People With Diabetes
A joint CREST/Diabetes UK Taskforce was established in 2001. The Taskforce published a framework for the development of services for people with diabetes in 2003. The framework contains a wide range of recommendations covering the full spectrum of the conditions from screening for people with a high risk of developing diabetes to the prevention and treatment of the condition. The Taskforce envisaged that a 5 - 10 year programme would be needed to implement the framework.
The framework is divided into 5 key areas:
- Prevention and early detection;
- Care, monitoring and treatment;
- Targeting vulnerable groups;
- Planning and managing services; and
- Implementation issues.
This report provides an update on the progress made against each of the "building blocks" set out in the framework."
