Medical Devices Committee
Medical Devices Committee, chaired by Dr Damien Carson is to "provide evaluation of devices to include aspects of high risk, safety, quality and variation in user practices".
TERMS OF REFERENCE
1. The committee will carry out 2 user evaluations of equipment per annum on topics agreed by the Strategic Committee of GAIN.
2. The committee will provide resolved advice to the strategic committee of GAIN on which topics should be selected for evaluation having assessed these in terms of priority against agreed criteria.
3. The evaluation will include careful attention to high risk, safety and quality and recognised variation in user practices.
4. The committee will develop appropriate methodologies for evaluation based on relevant up to date best practice.
5. The committee will liaise with NIAIC, MHRA, RSA, RQIA and the safety forum as appropriate.
The organisation and Terms of Reference will be subject to review after 18 months by the Strategic Committee of GAIN.
